OCTOBER '24 Newsletter
Firepit Art Gallery and Studios CIC

October is Black History Month and Firepit is hosting an incredible programme of events. BHM is such an important month in the calendar and one that Firepit is honoured to be able to support.
‘This year’s theme for Black History Month is “Reclaiming Narratives,” and marks a significant shift towards recognising and correcting the narratives of Black history and culture.’

October 3rd: The Exhibition, ‘Stories by the Fire’. Curated by Curtis Donavan. The opening night is free but please reserve your ticket. The exhibition runs until October 16th. 12 artists showcasing work inspired by mythology, history and every day tales. |

October 12th: Workshop 2, ‘Drums and Face’. Making Drums and Masks. Reserve your ticket. Using existing materials and working together to make drums and masks for a unique performance activity. |
October 14th: Firepit Tales - Open Mic. Special Edition for Black History Month. Free Event, Reserve Your Spot. Promoting Black African/Caribbean and Latin American voices. We aim to give the stage to them to perform and share their amazing stories and talent. |

Autumn Exhibition Opening Night Party 24th October
WHISPERS OF THE INFINITE - October 24th 6-9pm
Please do reserve your FREE ticket for the opening night. Drinks, snacks, music, LIVE painting performance. We love opening nights, everyone that comes loves them 🙂 We have an awesome selection of Firepit Artists, Guest Artists and Community Artists displaying work, the only time we are all likely to be in the space at the same time is on the 24th. If you ever feel like there is an event to come to that would support us as a Gallery, then this is it. Let’s make it the best one so far, you are our people, we want to celebrate with you. It is also the the last time you will ever get to see the amazing collection of Street Art Stickers, from the GCASFM project, our close friend Matt has made the really hard decision to wrap the project up.
Welcome to "Whispers of the Infinite," an exhibition that delves into the delicate and ephemeral beauty of nature and the human soul, weaving together the mystical and ethereal elements that transcend our everyday perceptions. This collection of works invites you to step into a world where the boundaries between reality and fantasy blur, and the essence of the infinite reveals its most subtle and profound secrets.
The Exhibition runs until January 18th 2025.
So what else is new in October?
Do you like wine? do you like food? Then keep October 26th Evening Free and get your tickets while we still have some! These tickets are super cheap for what you are getting. Charlie knows his wine, so you’ll be trying the good stuff.
An informal and exciting South African wine masterclass featuring 6 premium wines from across the Western Cape, presented by Vinoteca founder Charlie Young. Two-Course Dinner - Served by Chef Angelica Furlotti.
There are two separate tickets, so you can come to either the wine masterclass or the food or buy both tickets to come to both.
The two classes we get asked to run, more than any other thing is Life Drawing and Sip and Paint. We recently met Rose, who ran a super successful life drawing class in Hong Kong. Well she is here and going to run a monthly Life Drawing / Sip and draw Class at Firepit! The ticket price is really reasonable for the class and I recommend getting your tickets sooner rather than later as space is limited. October 31st - Halloween, so it will be Halloween themed 🙂 Run by Little Good Nudes, it is a sip and paint event, so 18+ honestly it looks cool AF and will be an enormous amount of fun, get a group of friends together or come on your own.

We did so many events and workshops in September. We christened Alfie’s Bar! We sold Art, we made Art. We met some incredible people, we had many meetings, made many plans.. My god we had some fun. My stand out event was the Pasta Making, eating and drinking paired Wine! Eating in a large group is such a community building event, it was an absolute honour to be part of it. 🙂
Firepit is on fire. It grows, it is organic, it’s a very special place. So many of you have started to let us know how important we are to the community and the difference we are making. I am so proud of the Firepit team and all we are achieving. And believe me, we have only just started!
Ok, a very small selection of photographs from September and not in date order lol.
